Quick guide to Venice

Updated: Jun 12, 2021

Venice... my love. This city surrounded by water is on the bucket list of basically every person on this planet. It embodies the Italian way of life while also being mysterious.

Sunset in Venice

When you wander through the streets, you think about the rich history of this city and you can't help to feel the excitement of what happened in the small streets of Venice hundreds of years ago. You can stop and enjoy some wine while also flirting with some Venetian men and you really feel that you arrived in the Italian lifestyle. Venice is perfect for a quick girls trip to escape the 9 to 5 and really make the most out of your weekend.

Gondola Rides

The airport in Venice is a short one hour trip from the main part of the town and most airlines fly into this beautiful city. You can take busses and water taxis to arrive at your hotel. I can highly recommend Ca' Del Duca hotel. It's a cute little hotel only 5 minutes from Marcus Square. For 3 nights we paid €200 for a double room. Breakfast is included but you can also go to one of the many restaurants and cafes around town. Keep in mind though, that breakfast is the most basic meal for Italians so you don't get a full buffet or anything special.

Sunrise in Venice

One of my highlights in Venice was to wake up for sunrise and go to the Marcus Square and to the waterfront right next to the square. After the sun is up you can walk around the city and experience everything waking up. It was one of the magical moments of travelling.

Venice is a perfect city to just walk around for hours on end as you are guaranteed some beautiful sights and buildings. We did write down a couple of landmarks we wanted to see but were really relaxed on how to get there and when we arrived at each of the sightseeing spots.
